Tasks & Chores
Tasks & Chores is the core of OneHaus. It helps your household stay on top of recurring responsibilities and one-off to-dos.
Creating Tasks
Tap the + button on the Tasks screen to create a new task. You can set:
- Title: What needs to be done (e.g., "Vacuum the living room")
- Assignee: Who is responsible (or leave unassigned for anyone to pick up)
- Due date: When it needs to be done
- Notes: Optional details or instructions
Recurring Tasks
Most household chores repeat on a schedule. OneHaus supports:
- Daily: Every day or every N days
- Weekly: Specific days of the week
- Monthly: Specific dates or "first Monday," "last Friday," etc.
- Yearly: Annual events like filter replacements or seasonal maintenance
When you create a recurring task, OneHaus automatically generates upcoming instances so you always know what is coming.
Task Rotation
For chores that should be shared equally, enable rotation:
- Create a recurring task
- Add multiple assignees
- Enable "Rotate assignment"
OneHaus will automatically cycle through the assignees each time the task recurs. Everyone takes a turn.
For example, if you add Alex, Sam, and Jo to a weekly "Take out the bins" task with rotation enabled, Alex gets week 1, Sam gets week 2, Jo gets week 3, then it cycles back to Alex.
Completing Tasks
Tap the checkbox to mark a task as complete. For recurring tasks, completing the current instance automatically reveals the next one.
Task Filters
You can filter which tasks appear on your screen. Go to Settings to choose between:
- Mine: Only tasks assigned to you
- Shared: Your tasks and unassigned tasks
- All: All household tasks
This filter applies to your home screen, tasks screen, and calendar. It helps you focus on what matters most.
Today Panel
The home screen includes a Today Panel that highlights your most important items. It automatically shows the highest-priority category that has items:
- Overdue tasks: Tasks past their due date
- Due today: Tasks due today
- Today's events: Calendar events happening today
- This week's events: Events coming up in the next seven days
- All clear: When there is nothing to action, you will see a clear state
The panel shows up to five items at a time. If there are more, tap "View all" to see the full list. Your task filter setting also applies to the Today Panel.
Batch Operations
Enable selection checkboxes in Settings to select multiple tasks at once. This lets you complete or delete several tasks in one action. It is especially useful for clearing a backlog of finished chores.
Tasks in Calendar
Tasks with due dates can appear in your calendar view. Toggle this on in Settings & Preferences to see tasks alongside events. This gives you a unified view of your household schedule.
Tips
- Use the AI Chat to create tasks quickly: "Remind me to take out the bins every Tuesday"
- Set your task filter to "Mine" to focus on just the tasks assigned to you
Troubleshooting
- Task not appearing: Check your task filter in Settings. If you are set to "Mine," you will not see unassigned tasks or tasks assigned to other members. Try switching to "Shared" or "All."
- Sync delay: Pull down to refresh the task list. Changes from other household members should appear within a few seconds.
