Shopping Lists

Shopping Lists in OneHaus make grocery runs and household shopping collaborative and organized.

Creating a List

Tap + on the Shopping screen to create a new list. Give it a name like "Weekly Groceries" or "Hardware Store." Items you add are part of your household's shared shopping list, so every member can see and contribute.

Adding Items

Add items to a list by:

  • Typing the item name and tapping Add
  • Using the AI Chat: "Add milk, eggs, and bread to the grocery list"
  • Tapping suggested items based on your purchase history

Each item can have:

  • Quantity: How many you need. Tap the quantity to adjust it up or down before or during your shop.
  • Notes: Brand preferences, size, etc.
  • Category: Automatically sorted by store aisle for efficient shopping (produce, dairy, frozen, household, etc.). You can override the category for any item.

Aisle Sorting

Items you add to a shopping list are automatically sorted by store aisle. Similar items are grouped together (produce, dairy, frozen, household, etc.) so you can move through the store efficiently without backtracking.

How It Works

  • Items are categorised automatically when you add them
  • The list reorders to group items by aisle
  • You can override the category for any item by tapping on it and selecting a different category

Customising Categories

If an item is placed in the wrong category, tap the item and change its category manually. Your override is remembered for future additions of the same item.

Managing Items

Tap an item to adjust its quantity. Swipe to delete an item, or use the undo button if you remove something by accident. Mark items as purchased by tapping the checkbox.

Shopping at the Store

When you are at the store, your list is already sorted by aisle so you can work through the shop in order. Check off items as you add them to your cart. Checked items move to a "completed" section at the bottom of the list, so you can see what is left at a glance. After your trip, reviewed purchased items stay in the completed section until you clear them.

Collaborative Shopping

All household members share the same lists. When someone:

  • Adds an item, it appears on everyone's list
  • Checks off an item at the store, it is marked for everyone
  • Removes an item, it disappears for everyone

OneHaus syncs in the background and whenever you open or pull to refresh the list, so household members stay in step. If two of you are shopping at once, pull down to refresh to pick up the latest changes and avoid buying duplicates.

Adding from Recipes

If you have saved recipes in OneHaus, you can add their ingredients to your shopping list in bulk. Open a recipe, tap "Add to Shopping List," and select which ingredients to include. Items are automatically categorised by aisle so they fit into your existing list. See Recipes for more on creating and managing your recipe collection.

Tips

  • Create separate lists for different stores
  • Use the AI Chat: "What's on the shopping list?" to get a quick summary
  • Checked-off items move to a "completed" section so you can review what was bought
  • Items are sorted by aisle automatically. Override any category by tapping the item

Troubleshooting

  • Items not syncing: Ensure you have an active internet connection. Pull down to refresh the list if changes from other members are not appearing.
