Siri & Spotlight

On iPhone and iPad, you can run the everyday parts of OneHaus without opening it. Ask Siri, or search from your home screen.

What you can ask Siri

Say any of these, hands free or with the side button. Each one has a few phrasings, so you do not have to remember an exact form of words.

Shopping

  • "Add to my OneHaus shopping list"
  • "OneHaus, what's on the shopping list" or "OneHaus, what do I need to buy"
  • "Cross something off my OneHaus shopping list"

Tasks and chores

  • "OneHaus, add a chore" or "OneHaus, add a task"
  • "OneHaus, mark a chore as done"
  • "What's due in OneHaus today"

What is coming up

  • "OneHaus, what's on my schedule today"
  • "OneHaus, what's on this week"

The house itself

  • "OneHaus, when's the MOT due" or "OneHaus, is any car maintenance due"
  • "What's expiring soon in OneHaus"

Siri answers out loud, so "what's on the shopping list" reads the list back rather than opening the app.

You can also find all of these in the Shortcuts app under OneHaus, where you can rename a phrase to whatever you would naturally say, or drop one into an automation.

A few more actions live in the Shortcuts app without a ready-made phrase: your saved recipes, what you could cook from what is already on your shopping list, an appliance's warranty dates, who is in your household, and how much the house has got done this week. Give any of them a phrase of your own and Siri will answer to it.

Finding things in iPhone search

Swipe down on your home screen and type, and your OneHaus tasks and shopping items come up alongside everything else on your phone. Tap a result and OneHaus opens on that item.

Searching for the wording of a task works, and so do the plain words for what the thing is: "chore", "to do" or "housework" will surface your tasks, and a search for "shopping" finds what is on your lists. Results carry a second line telling you which they are, so a task does not get mistaken for a note.

Items leave the index when they leave your household, so a completed task stops showing up.

This works whether or not your household is on OneHaus Pro.

Setting it up

There is nothing to turn on. Open OneHaus once, signed in and with a household, and both Siri and search start working. The phrases register themselves, and your tasks and shopping items are offered to search as they sync.

Tips

  • "OneHaus, what's due today" on the way out of the door is faster than opening anything.
  • Rename the phrases in the Shortcuts app if a different wording comes more naturally to you. The built-in phrasings stay working either way.
  • Search is the quickest route back to a specific task when you cannot remember which list it landed on.

Troubleshooting

Siri says it cannot find OneHaus Open OneHaus once after installing or updating it. Phrases register on launch, and iOS can take a few minutes to pick them up. Check OneHaus is listed in Settings > Siri & Search.

Siri asks me to upgrade, or says it cannot do that Asking Siri is part of OneHaus Pro. See Plans & Subscription.

Nothing from OneHaus comes up when I search In Settings > Siri & Search > OneHaus, turn on Show App in Search and Show Content in Search. Then open OneHaus so it can sync and offer your items to the index.

Siri answers in English when the app is in another language Shortcut names, Siri phrases and search labels follow your device language. Siri's spoken answers are currently in English, even when you have OneHaus set to another language. The app itself, its widgets and the watch app are translated.
