Settings & Preferences
Settings > Preferences holds the choices that are yours alone: how the app looks, what shows on the home screen, and which calendar and contacts it syncs with on this device. None of it affects other household members.
Preferences
- Notifications: opens Notification Preferences, where you choose which categories of push notification you receive. See Notifications & Reminders.
- App icon badge: choose what counts toward the number on the OneHaus icon: overdue tasks, tasks due today, today's calendar events, or any combination. Turn everything off to hide the badge. This only affects this device.
- AI features & data sharing: consent for the AI features. Turn it off and the assistant, share into OneHaus and the house review stay off until you turn it back on.
- Theme mode: System, Light or Dark. System follows your device setting.
- Language: pick the language the app uses, or leave it on System default to follow your device.
- Default currency: the currency preselected when you add something with a price. Leave it on Automatic to follow your region. You can still change the currency on any individual entry.
- Auto-submit voice recording: when enabled, OneHaus sends your message as soon as you finish speaking. When disabled, you can review and edit the transcribed text before sending.
- Enable haptic feedback: vibration feedback when you interact with the app. Turn it off if you find the buzz distracting.
- Show tasks: choose which tasks appear on your homepage and calendar. "Mine" is only tasks assigned to you, "Shared" is your tasks plus unassigned ones, and "All" is every household task. See Tasks & Chores.
- Schedule view: how far ahead the schedule shows tasks and events: 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, or All.
- Events timeframe: how far ahead upcoming events are counted on your home dashboard: 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, or All.
- Sync calendar: opens the Calendar Sync screen. See below.
- Sync contacts: syncs your household contacts to your device's address book. Grant contacts access when prompted. See Contacts & People.
Calendar sync
Tap Sync calendar and OneHaus opens a screen where you pick which calendar on this device it syncs with, then choose a Sync direction.
"OneHaus to this device" copies household events into the calendar you picked and reads nothing back. "Both ways" also brings events from that calendar into OneHaus.
When you sync both ways, Imported events decides who sees what comes in. "Only on this device" keeps imported events to your copy of OneHaus. "Shared with the household" adds them to the household calendar, so every member sees them. Sharing imported events with the household is part of OneHaus Pro. Without it, imports pause and OneHaus tells you why.
The screen also has Sync Now and shows when the calendar last synced. If you would rather not mix household events into a calendar you already use, let OneHaus create its own calendar on the device, which only ever holds household events.
Tips
- Set App icon badge to overdue only. The number on the icon then means one thing, so you can trust it at a glance.
- Turn on auto-submit voice recording once you are comfortable with the AI Chat. You stop tapping send.
Troubleshooting
Sync not working Check that OneHaus has the correct permissions at the device level. On iOS, go to your phone's Settings > Privacy & Security and ensure OneHaus has access to Calendars and Contacts.
A preference did not stick Most preferences are stored on the device, not on your account. Reinstalling the app or moving to a new phone starts you back at the defaults, and settings you change on your phone do not follow you to your iPad. AI features & data sharing is the exception, because your consent belongs to your account and follows you everywhere.
Calendar events appearing twice If you sync both ways with a calendar that also carries a subscribed feed, the same event can arrive from two directions. Switch that calendar to "OneHaus to this device", or point sync at the dedicated OneHaus calendar the app can create for you.
