Contacts & People

The plumber, the vet, the school office, the emergency numbers. One list the whole household can reach.

Adding a contact

Tap the + button and select Contact. Fill in the details you have available, then tap Save. Fill in what you know. The rest can wait.

Contact fields

Each contact supports the following fields:

Name: The large field at the top of the form, prompting "Who's this?". Type the given name here.
Last Name: Their family or surname.
Display name: An optional nickname or label, such as "Dr. Patel" or "Grandma." Set it and OneHaus shows that name everywhere instead of the full name.
Email: Their email address. Tap to compose a message directly.
Phone: Their phone number. Tap to call or send a text.
Address: A street address. Useful for service providers or family you visit regularly.
Date of birth: their birthday. OneHaus flags it in the daily digest a week ahead, so it does not creep up on the household.
Prepare birthday present: toggle this on and the digest gives you two weeks of warning instead of one, and OneHaus creates a task to sort the gift.
Notes: Free-text space for anything else. Store relationship details, preferences, or reference numbers here.

Device contact sync

OneHaus can push your household contacts to your phone's address book, so the people your household relies on are available in your native Contacts app and ready to call or message. Enable contact sync in Settings & Preferences and grant contacts access when prompted. Once enabled, contacts you add or update in OneHaus are written to your device automatically. OneHaus asks for contacts permission when you first set up your household, so you may have already granted or declined it there. You can change it later in your device settings.

Sync is one-way: OneHaus writes household contacts to your device. Changes you make directly in your phone's address book are not pulled back into OneHaus, so add and edit contacts in OneHaus to keep everyone in sync.

Using contacts with other features

Contacts get more useful once other things point at them.

Pet care: Link your vet as a contact on a pet in Home Inventory so their number is always one tap away.
Home maintenance: Add your plumber, electrician, or handyman so you can find them quickly when something breaks.
AI lookup: The AI Chat can search your contacts for you. Try asking "What's the plumber's phone number?" or "When is Mum's birthday?"
From your own assistant: ask "what is the plumber's number?" from a connected assistant as well as from the app.

Exporting a contact

Open a contact and tap the share icon in the header to save it as a vCard (.vcf) file. Your device's share sheet opens, so you can send it by message or email. Almost every address book reads vCard.

Tips

Use Display name for anyone you refer to by a nickname or title. That is the name you will search for.
Toggle Prepare birthday present for close friends and family so you never scramble for a last-minute gift.
Add your emergency contacts first. Having them in OneHaus means every household member can access them.
Put the account number in Notes. It is the thing you will need on the phone and never have to hand.

Troubleshooting

Contact sync not working Check that OneHaus has permission to access your contacts at the device level. On iOS, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Contacts and ensure OneHaus is enabled.

Household contacts not appearing on your phone Make sure contact sync is turned on inside OneHaus as well. Go to Settings & Preferences, confirm the toggle is enabled, and check that you have granted OneHaus permission to access your contacts. It may take a moment for the initial sync to complete.

Duplicate contacts appearing If you already had someone saved on your phone before turning sync on, you will end up with two entries. Delete the phone-only one and keep the OneHaus copy. Deleting the OneHaus copy from your phone does nothing lasting, because OneHaus is the source of truth and adds it back on the next sync. To remove someone everywhere, delete them in OneHaus.
