Add Anything From a Photo or PDF
Some things are quicker to photograph than to type, and some arrive as a PDF you were never going to retype anyway. Point your camera at a receipt, an appliance label, a school letter or an event flyer, or attach the quote your builder emailed, send it to the OneHaus assistant, and it reads the details and creates the right items for you.

How it works
Open the assistant and tap +, then pick Take photo, Choose photo or Choose file for a PDF. Add a short note if you want to ("this is the new dishwasher") or send the attachment on its own. It reads the image or the document and creates the same things you would have typed: a task, an event, a shopping item, a contact, an inventory record.
The assistant tells you what it created, with links, so you can open anything that came out wrong and fix it. If an attachment does not make it through, it says so rather than answering as though you had sent nothing.
What it can read
- Receipts and shopping photos: add the items to your shopping list, or capture a purchase for your records.
- Appliance and electronics labels: the make, model and serial number go into your home inventory, with the warranty or service date.
- Letters and bills: a renewal, appointment or due date becomes a calendar event or task.
- Event flyers and invitations: the date, time and place land on your shared calendar in one step.
- Business cards: save a name, phone number and email to your contacts.
- Handwritten notes: a quick list on paper turns into tasks or shopping items.
- PDFs: a quote, an order confirmation, a policy schedule or a term dates letter. Up to 4 MB.
There is no fixed list. The assistant reads whatever you send and works out what it maps to. If it does not say enough, it asks rather than inventing a date.
Share a photo from your phone
You do not have to open OneHaus first. From your photo library or camera roll, tap share and choose OneHaus. Photos go through the same review step as any other share: OneHaus reads them, proposes the items it thinks you want, and nothing is added until you confirm. Sharing takes up to four photos at once, where the assistant takes one per message. Share a PDF and OneHaus asks whether to read it or file it. See Share into OneHaus for how that works.
Tips
- One attachment per message. OneHaus tells you if you try to add a second. Fill the frame with the receipt, label or letter so the text is easy to read. To send several photos at once, share them into OneHaus instead.
- Good light and a steady hand help. If the text is blurry, retake the photo.
- Add a short caption when the photo needs context, like "warranty for the boiler" or "Maya's swimming schedule".
- Check what OneHaus created before you carry on, and tweak anything it got wrong.
What happens to your photos
Photos you send to the assistant are compressed on your device, then stored briefly in the same encrypted store as your document attachments so the assistant can read them. PDFs go to the same place, uncompressed. OneHaus deletes each attachment once the assistant has read it, and anything left behind expires within a day. They are not shared with advertisers and are never used to train AI models. As with everything in OneHaus, your household data stays yours.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing happened after I sent a photo: check your connection and try again. Very large images are compressed automatically, but a clearer, well-lit photo reads best.
- The wrong details were picked up: edit the item OneHaus created, or send a sharper photo. You can also add a caption to tell OneHaus what to focus on.
- My PDF was rejected: the assistant takes PDFs up to 4 MB. A scanned document is often far larger than it looks, so try exporting it at a lower quality, or file it against a document in Home Inventory instead.
