Getting Started

Setting up a household takes about five minutes.

1. Download the app

OneHaus runs on your phone:

OneHaus is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Swedish and Hindi. It follows your device language unless you pick one in Settings.

Every new household starts with a free 30 day trial of everything. After that, one-off tasks, shopping lists and feedback stay free, and the rest is OneHaus Pro.

2. Create your account

Open OneHaus and sign in with Apple or Google. If you have not used OneHaus before, that creates your account.

3. Set up your home

After signing in you land on Let's set up your home. Tap Set up a new home and OneHaus creates it, named after you, for example "Sarah's Home". You are the owner. Rename it later at the top of Settings, where owners edit the home name in place.

Joining someone else's home instead? Tap OR JOIN ONE and enter the 8 digit invite code they shared. You will see what is already in that home before you commit.

4. Answer the setup questions

OneHaus then walks you through a few screens. None of them take long, and you can skip the setup ones.

Stock the cupboards: tick the staples your home always needs, and they are waiting on your shared shopping list.

The jobs that come round: a list of recurring chores, each with a suggested rhythm and the common ones already ticked. Tick what you do, and tap one to change how often.

Subscriptions: what you pay for and when it renews, which is what feeds Budget.

Pets and vehicles: names and registrations, so OneHaus can keep the important dates in view.

Three quick permissions: notifications, calendar and contacts. Pick Allow or Not now for each, and change any of them later.

Your assistant runs on AI: what OneHaus sends for AI features and what happens to it. Choose Allow or Don't allow. Decline and the AI features stay off until you change your mind under Settings.

Invite housemates: your invite code, ready to share. This one only appears when you created the home.

5. Invite members

You can share the invite code again at any time:

  1. Go to Settings, then Invite code
  2. Tap Share invite code, or Copy invite code and send it yourself
  3. Members join by tapping OR JOIN ONE on their setup screen and entering the code

Turn Allow new members off once everyone is in, and the code stops working until you turn it back on.

Everyone in the household sees the same tasks, events and lists. For more details, see Household Management.

6. Set up notifications

OneHaus can send you reminders for tasks, events, and other household activity. Head to your notification settings to choose what you want to be notified about. See Notifications & Reminders for the full guide.

7. Configure preferences

Task filters, calendar display, voice input behaviour and more are in Settings & Preferences.

8. Explore the features

  • Tasks: Tap the + button to create your first task. Set it as recurring, assign it to a member, or let OneHaus rotate it automatically.
  • Task Packs: Open Packs and pick a ready-made checklist like Moving House or Car Maintenance, then choose the items to create. Task Packs are part of OneHaus Pro.
  • Calendar: View your household timeline. Tap any date to add an event. Events can sync to your phone's calendar, and back the other way if you want. See Calendar & Events.
  • Shopping: Your home starts with a list called Shopping. Add items, or start another list for the baby, the DIY run, or Christmas.
  • Recipes: Save a recipe, add ingredients, and send them to your shopping list in one tap.
  • Inventory: Add your first item, such as an appliance, vehicle, or pet, and track its details.
  • Contacts: Store details for tradespeople, doctors, vets, and other people your household relies on. These can be synced to your device's contact list.
  • AI Chat: Tap the chat icon and try saying "Add milk to the shopping list."
  • Home screen: Counts for tasks, events and shopping, a Today panel with what is pressing, and shortcut chips that change with what you have on.
  • House setup checklist: A short list on the home screen of the essentials worth doing first, and more to try once they are done. Mark anything as not relevant for your house, or hide the card once you are set up.

9. Put OneHaus where you already look

Keep your household in view without opening the app.

  • Home screen widgets: counts for open tasks, upcoming events and shopping items, with the large size also listing the next few of each. On iOS, long-press the home screen, tap +, search for OneHaus. On Android, long-press the home screen, tap Widgets, find OneHaus. A medium or large Android widget can be pointed at a single shopping list.
  • Apple Watch: the watch app puts your shopping list, today's tasks and the next event on your wrist, and four complications go straight on your watch face.
  • Android shortcuts: long-press the OneHaus icon for Shopping, Calendar and Momentum.
  • Siri and search on iPhone: ask "OneHaus, what's due today", or find a task from home screen search.

Widgets update on the next sync, which happens when you open the app and roughly hourly.
