Calendar & Events
The OneHaus calendar gives your household a shared view of what is happening and when.
Creating Events
Tap any date on the calendar to create a new event. You can set:
- Title: What the event is (e.g., "Dentist appointment")
- Date and time: When it happens
- All-day: Toggle this on for events that span the entire day, such as birthdays or holidays
- Location: Optional location details
- Notes: Any additional information
- Attendees: Which household members are involved
Recurring Events
Many household events repeat regularly. OneHaus supports:
- Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly recurrence
- Custom patterns like "every other week" or "first Saturday of the month"
- End dates or "repeat forever"
- Max occurrences: Set a limit on how many times the event repeats (e.g., "repeat 10 times")
- Duration: Specify how long each occurrence lasts, so your timeline shows accurate time blocks
Timeline View
The timeline is a scrollable, day-by-day view of your household schedule. Scroll down to see future events, or scroll up to load past events. A "Today" indicator helps you jump back to the current date quickly.
This view is helpful for getting an overview of the next few days or weeks without switching between calendar pages.
Tasks in Calendar
Tasks with due dates can appear alongside your events in the timeline. Toggle this setting in Settings & Preferences. This gives you a unified view of everything coming up, so you never miss a task or an event.
Device Calendar Sync
OneHaus can push events to your existing device calendars so your household schedule appears alongside your personal one.
- Go to Settings > Calendar > Sync
- Choose which device calendars to include
iOS: OneHaus syncs with Apple Calendar. Events you create in OneHaus appear on your device calendar automatically.
Google Calendar: OneHaus syncs with Google Calendar. Events you create in OneHaus appear on your device calendar automatically.
Sync is one-way: OneHaus writes to your device calendar, but changes made directly on your device calendar are not pulled back into OneHaus.
Exporting an Event
To share a single event outside OneHaus, open it and tap the export icon to save it as an iCalendar (.ics) file. Recurring events can be exported the same way. Your device's share sheet opens, so you can send the event by message or email or add it to another calendar app. .ics is the universal calendar format, so it imports cleanly into Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, and more.
Tips
- Use colour coding to distinguish between different types of events
- The AI Chat can create events: "Schedule a family dinner this Saturday at 7pm"
- Set reminders so household members get notified before events
Troubleshooting
- Events not syncing: Check that you have granted OneHaus calendar permissions in your device settings. Also confirm that sync is enabled in OneHaus under Settings > Calendar > Sync.
- Duplicate events: If you create the same event in both OneHaus and your device calendar, it may appear twice. Create events in OneHaus and let sync push them to your device calendar to avoid this.
