Meal Planning
Meal planning in OneHaus lets your household decide what's for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks across the week. Plan from your saved recipes or add custom meals, then send the week's ingredients straight to your shopping list.

Planning a Meal
Open the Meal Plan screen and pick a day and slot (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack). For each meal you can either:
- Pick a recipe from your household's saved recipes, or
- Enter a custom meal by name, such as "Leftovers night" or "Dinner at Grandma's"
You can also set the number of servings and add notes, like a reminder to defrost something the night before.
Navigating the Week
The planner shows one week at a time, starting on Monday. Use the arrows to move between weeks, and the "This week" button to jump back to today. Plans are shared with all household members, so everyone sees the same week.
Filling Your Shopping List
This is where meal planning pays off:
- Per day: tap the basket on a day to collect the ingredients from that day's recipe-linked meals.
- Per week: use "Week to shopping list" to collect ingredients from every recipe planned that week.
OneHaus shows you the combined ingredient list first, with everything pre-selected. Untick anything you already have, then add the rest in one tap. Duplicate ingredients across recipes are merged with their quantities added together. Custom meals don't carry ingredients, so they are skipped.
Editing and Removing Meals
Tap the pencil on a planned meal to change its date, slot, recipe, servings, or notes. Tap the bin to remove it from the plan. Removing a planned meal never deletes the recipe itself or anything already on your shopping list.
Tips
- Use the AI Chat to plan faster: "Plan spaghetti bolognese for Friday dinner"
- Plan the week on Sunday, then send the whole week to your shopping list before the big shop
- Use custom meals for takeaway or eating-out nights so the week still reads complete
Troubleshooting
- A planned meal shows no ingredients to add: only recipe-linked meals contribute ingredients. Open the recipe and add ingredients to it, or link the meal to a recipe.
- Plan not syncing: ensure you have an active internet connection and refresh the page.
