Mexico Public Holidays

Public holidays in Mexico are set out in Article 74 of the Federal Labour Law, which lists the statutory rest days (dias de descanso obligatorio). A 2006 reform moved several civic holidays to Mondays to create long weekends, so their observed dates can differ from the historical anniversary.

How public holidays work in Mexico

Several civic holidays are fixed to a Monday under the 2006 reform, so the day off may not coincide with the date being commemorated. Public holidays are the days most workplaces and schools in Mexico treat as days off, so they shape when people travel, book time away and plan around childcare. Religious holidays and wider observances sit alongside them. They are not always days off, but they are dates many households still mark. Each year page lists the public and religious holidays in full, and OneHaus keeps the complete set current in your shared home calendar.
